Founder and President, Santiago Tavara

possesses over 25 years of experience in journalism, entrepreneurship, and community participation at the local, national, and international levels. As part of the leadership of 2020 Consulting Group, Távara feels very excited to support various initiatives, including the celebration of Peru Bicentennial focused on post-COVID-19 international opportunities. Mr. Távara is a co-founder of the nonprofit organization MPower Now Inc., founded on June 2020, focused on empowerment initiatives on health, culture, commerce, and education.

Mr. Távara has experience based on his special assignments to Israel, Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador, and Colombia to cover different issues on politics, technology, tourism, among other. Mr. Távara has worked as a journalist for different local, national, and international news outlets.

Secretary, Janet Lugo

   credits her pursuit in Latin American business to her family roots in Guatemala, Puerto Rico, and Peru. DC. has roots across the DC area and Maryland. Janet is known for her honesty and professional integrity. She brings expertise from an executive management background and marketing expertise working with small business owners. 

Janet’s broad experience and background brings to the table a diverse skill set. Her years of experience have added value and positive solutions in television and radio, and non-profit executive management. She has industry-specific experience working for large companies such as Telemundo in public relations, sponsorship, and event planning. Additionally, Janet is a skilled business development professional having counseled hundreds of local DC small businesses in marketing, financials, and business planning. Those skills also served to be an Executive Director for several DC based non-profits managing large budgets, staffs, events, volunteers, marketing, sponsorships, grant writing, managing grants and reporting. 

Janet has independently consulted for and with for-profit and not-for-profits in executive management, event planning and grant writing capacities. She holds an active license in Real Estate in Washington, DC, and Maryland. Janet holds studies in Marketing and International Business from Strayer University. She has a strong sense of community and is known well in the local active Latino community. Janet feels she is fortunate and honored having worked several creative colleagues and peers on exciting projects and impacting programs. 

We are a group of individuals who brought in our time, talents, and desire to help others. In took a pandemic to put our plan into action and we did more during COVID than we ever imagined. We started out as a group of five professionals who came together with the goal to help others who were not getting much needed COVID supplies in rural towns in Latin American Countries. We were able to help over 5 countries with food, basic staples, masks, and COVID supplies for the next 2 years. 

Over the years, we have worked together to bring attention to issues that affect our communities locally in education, health, immigration, commerce, small business development, and other social issues. 

We are now working on focusing on the current issues at hand with education and immigration.

 Our mission is to promote development in education, culture, trade, and health by fostering collaboration across borders. MPower Now (MPrende Ahora Inc.) is dedicated to empowering Latin American communities by promoting education, cultural exchange, fair trade, and sustainable development. We strive to connect underserved regions in Latin America with opportunities in the U.S. to foster economic growth, preserve cultural heritage, and create pathways for immigration reform and educational advancement. Our mission is to bridge these communities through impactful initiatives, from supporting bilingual programs to fostering fair trade and educational empowerment.
